There are two main methods that are used in the construction of the interior walls of modern homes. Those methods are either Dry-wall or Plaster. In dry-wall, a specialized form of sheet rock that is known as "greenboard" is screwed onto the wall-frames of the home in order to form the interior walls.
At the place where the two edges of wallboards meet there is a seam. The seams are covered with mesh tape and then the screw heads are concealed with the drywall compound in order to make the wall appear as one uniform piece. Later, this is painted or wallpapered over to hide the work. This process is typically called "Taping" and those who use dry-wall are known as "Tapers".
When refurbishing and renovating a property, it's a good idea to install dry lining. Dry lining is a generic term that is normally applied to the use of plasterboard on timber or metal frames. This strictly applies to the use of plasterboard in order to replace sand and cement or a wet plaster finish to the internal block-work of a property.
